In her three years on the varsity Gabriell Mattox has knocked on the door of the State Championship only to be denied. This time she plans to pull her team in around her and propel them to a title.
As a freshmen Gabby and the Lionettes lost the 3A championship game to Canyon. As a sophomore they stumbled and never made it to Austin. Last year they dropped to 2A and everybody thought watch out, but then they ran into the Brock Lady Eagles.

Kountze head coach Lola Baker loves Gabriell's energy and team spirit. Coach Baker says that her star post, "cheers for her teammates when she is on and off the floor and if you ever watch her play you can see that part."

Gabriell's knowledge of the game makes her a strong player. She is always looking for a game and is perfectly willing to jump in a pick-up game with the boys. Ms. Mattox is a student of the game always looking for new skills and tactics to add to her arsenal.
Coack Baker wants Gabby to improve her footwork at the post position and to realize that as the leader on the court she sets the tone, because her teammates feed off of her attitude
